03-September-2007 |
|
Mines 14 & Under team have got the grand final series of to a flying start for the Diorites with a fantastic win in last weekends 14 and Under Goldfields Junior Football League Grand Final against Railways in a 8.11 (59) to 7.6 (48) scoreline. The narrow 11-point win was once again orchestrated by the hard running Diorite midfield led by Captain Delson Trott with a best on ground performance. Other notable performances including that of Jonathon Doutch who played well all day but was especially dominate in the last quarter when the redlegs staged a fightback to try to snatch the match. Dylan Sambo, Kaden Walter and Matthew Seeley also played well whilst Jake Littlewood and Blake Ferrier were allocated difficult match ups that they seized and excelled in. In all the whole team contributed to a fantastic match with many players playing a role. The match was played in good spirits between two teams that have struggled in recent years and all players from both clubs should be commended for the way the match was played. Delson Trott was the leading goal scorer with his two, whilst individual goals came from Dylan Sambo, Jake Littlewood, Taylor O'Loughlin, Matt Seeley, Clayton Lewis and Jonathon Doutch. Best Player for the grand final was awarded to Delson Trott with Jonathon Doutch the runner up. Most Valuable Player over the final series was also awarded to Delson with Dylan Sambo taking out the runner up award. Matthew Seeley completed the final series awards taking out the leading goal scorer with 5 goals.
The win at Sir Richard Moore Sports Arena was witnessed by a large crowd of spectators thrilling the large contingent of Diorites supporters who turned out in force to watch the closely fought out match. It was pleasing to see the large amount of senior league, reserves and colts players all their cheering on the future of the club and urging the boys on in the final quarter when the match got very close. Congratulations must go to all the team on their fantastic efforts all season and to the coaching staff of Andrew Zafer, Jeff Turner, Brett Mais & Tony Cummins in their efforts in getting the team to the grand final. To our junior club led by the hard working Jeff & Nardia Turner - congratulations on the great season and awesome effort in turning our juniors around and we look forward to the future of the Diorites playing stocks.

| STAR PLAYER TAKES OUT AWARD |
21-August-2007 |
|
Last night Mines Rovers Under 14's star player Delson Trott was awarded the Goldfields Junior Football League Under 14's Fairest and Best Footballer for season 2007. In the count hosted at the Diorites clubrooms last night, Trott polled an incredible 67 votes to easily take the honours from Kambalda Karl Steinhauser by 12 votes. Amazingly young Delson polled the maximum 5 votes in 12 out of 15 games during the home and away season and polled in every single one of the 14 games he played for the season (he missed the last qualifying game due to injury). Delson is the captain of our under 14's team and his silky skills are great to watch. He has played all his football at the club since joining as a 10 year old asticking with his team through thick and thin and is definately a player to watch in future years. Delson's win provided our Under 14's team with a great boost in the lead up to their forthcoming grand final match on September the 1st. Several other 14's players polled well and the results will be on our juniors page in the next few days. Congratulations to Delson on the much deserved award, once again you have done the club proud.

| CLOSE GAMES GO DOWN TO THE WIRE |
12-August-2007 |
|
THIS WEEKENDS ROUND 15 GAMES AGAINST RAILWAYS HAD THREE VERY ENTERTAINING GAMES OF FOOTBALL TO SOMPLETE THE END OF THE HOME AND AWAY SEASON FOR OUR JUNIOR CLUB. WITH THE UNDER 14'S PLAYING FINALS NEXT WEEK EXCITEMENT IS STARTING TO BUILD UP AROUND THE CLUB AND THIS WEEKENDS GAMES ONLY ADDED TO THAT.
THE UNDER 10'S GAME WHILST RESULTING IN A LOSS TO THE DIORITES, HAD A SCOREBOARD THAT DIDN'T REALLY REFLECT THE WAYTHE GAME WAS PLAYED. WHILST THE YOUNG DIORITES HAD DIFFICULTY CONVERTING KICKS INTO GOALS THEY PLAYED VERY WELL WITH GREAT SPIRIT THROUGHOUT THE GAME. LLOYD DONALDSON SCORED 2 GOALS AND JACK SWALLOW CHIPPED IN FOR 1 AS WELL. ONCE AGAIN JARROD TURNER, RILEY SNYTHE & ELLIOT BRIERS ALL TURNED IN A GREAT PERFORMANCES WHILST ALISTAIR WOOD PLAYED WELL ALL OVER THE GROUND. ROBERT BIRD AND RICKY SCHULTZE HAD GREAT GAMES TOO TO BOTH FEATURE IN THE MATCH DAY AWARDS. THE SEASON NOW DRAWS TO A CLOSE FOR THE UNDER 10'S WITH A REMINDER TO ALL BE BACK AT THE CLUBROOMS FOR THE WIND UP ON SEPT 1ST.
THE UNDER 12'S PLAYED A HARD FOUGHT OUT INTENSE GAME AGAINST THE REDLEGS TO SHOW GREAT DETERMINATION TO COME AWAY WITH THEIR WIN. THE 2.8 (20) TO 2.4 (16) SCORELINE DISPLAYED HOW HARD THE GAME WAS WITH THE DIORITES ONLY COMING AWAY WITH A WIN IN THE DYING MOMENTS OF THE GAME. MINES NORMAL POTENT FOWARD LINE WAS MUCH QUIETER AGAINST A STRONG RAILWAYS DEFENCE WITH JAMES CABLE PLAYING HIS BEST MATCH EVER TO SCORE BOTH OF THE DIORITES GOALS. CONNOR MCCREED WAS SOLID ACROSS THE CENTRE AND TOOK SOME GREAT STRONG MARKS. ONCE AGAIN THE RUNNING SPEED OF MICHAEL TAYLOR AND JOSEPH SCAFIDI WAS SIMPLY TO HARD FOR THE OPPPOSITION TO MATCH AND HELD THE DIORITES IN GOOD STEED. THE WIN UNDER PRESSURE MEANT MORE THAN SO MANY OF THE ONE SIDED MATCHES WE HAVE COME TO WITNESS AS IT SHOWED THAT WHEN THE CHIPS WERE DOWN THE TEAM COULD REALLY STAND UP. THE WIN STRETCHED THE TEAMS STRETCHED WINNING SEQUENCE TO NEARLY THREE SEASONS AND WAS VERY EMOTIONAL FOR SEVERAL PLAYERS. WELL DONE TO COACHES RUSSELL WALTON AND BEN BARSANTI (BOTH DIORITES LEAGUE PLAYERS) FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND TO ALL THE PLAYERS ON THE GREAT SEASON AND EFFORT.
THE UNDER 14'S GAME - A DRESS REHERSAL FOR NEXT WEEKS SECOND SEMI WAS ANOTHER HARD FOUGHT OUT MATCH THAT WENT RIGHT DOWN TO THE WIRE AS WELL. UNFORTUNATELY THE DIORITES JUST WENT DOWN BY 3 POINTS IN A 6.6 (42) TO 7.3 (45) SCORELINE IN A MATCH WERE THE LEAD CHANGED HANDS SEVERAL TIMES. CAPTAIN DELOSN TROTT WAS SORELY MISSED DURING THE GAME BUT SEVERAL PLAYERS INCLUDING LOFTY HOMBERGEN WHO PLAYED HIS BEST GAME ALL YEAR STEPPED UP. MATTHEW SEELEY WAS ONCE AGIN GOOD IN FRONT OF GOALS WITH HIS TWO WHILST LUKE NEEDHAM & JONATHON DOUTCH TRIED HARD ALL DAY AS WELL. THE TEAMS MEET AGAIN NEXT WEEKEND FOR THE SECOND SEMI AND A CHANCE TO GO STRAIGHT INTO THE GRANDFINAL AND THE DIORITES WILL BE DESPERATE TO MAKE AMENDS FOR TODAY'S GAME. THE MATCH WILL BE PLAYED AT DIGGER DAWS OVAL AT 10.40AM AND ALL PLAYERS, PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS FROM OTHER GAMES ARE ENCOURAGED TO GET DOWN THERE AND GET BEHIND THE 14'S

THE RESULTS FROM THE DIORITES ROAD TRIP TO KAMBALDA IN ROUND 14 HAVE ONCE AGAIN BROUGHYT A MIXED BAG.
THE DAY GOT UNDERWAY WITH A COMPETITIVE GAME BETWEEN THE TWO UNDER 10 TEAMS. MINES GAVE THE KAMBALDA TEAM A BIG START IN THE FIRST QUARTER WITH 3 UNANSWERED GOALS BUT THEN FOUGHT BACK DURING THE NEXT THREE QUARTERS TO GO DOWN IN A 1.6 (12) TO 4.4 (28) SCORELINE. BYRONE WALLACE PLAYED HIS BEST GAME OF THE SEASON TO TAKE OUT THE BEST PLAYER AWARD WHILST ELLIOTT BRIERS AND RHETT BOURKE WERE ALSO FINE CONTRIBUTORS AS WELL.
ONCE AGAIN THE UNDER 12 TEAM PLAYED A GREAT GAME TO COME AWAY BIG 10.11 (71) TO 1.0 (6) WINNERS AGAINST THE NICKEL TOWNERS. KAYDEN SAMBO SHONE WITH 4 GOALS WITH CONNOR MCCREED & REECE WILLIAMS BOTH CHIPPING IN WITH 2 EACH. ARRON DONOVON & JOHN WILLIAMS SCORED THE OTHER GOALS, WHILST ETHAN HOWSON TOOK OUT THE BEST PLAYER AWRD FOR THE GAME. BEN WOOD ALSO ONCE AGAIN PLAYED A GREAT GAME AS WELL AND HAS REALLY STEPPED UP THIS PAST ROUND. NEXT WEEK THE TEAM WILL MEET A RAPIDLY IMPROVING RAILWAYS TEAM TO FACE THEIR LAST CHALLENGE OF THE SEASON.
THE UNDER 14'S PLAYED A COMPLETLEY DOMINATING GAME TO WHITEWASH THE OPPOSITION AND RECORD A BIG 14.11 (95) TO 3.3 (21) POINT WIN AGAINST KAMBALDA. JONATHON DOUTCH TURNED AN EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE ALL OVER THE GROUND, WHILST SCORING TWO GOALS AS WELL AND TOOK OUT THE BEST PLAYER AWARD WHILST KADEN WALTER AND DYLAN SAMBO WERE SOLID ALL DAY AS WELL. 8 PLAYERS SCORED GOALS WITH CLATON LEWIS AND DELSON TROTT LEADING THE WAY WITH THREE EACH, JONATHON DOUTCH & MATT SEELEY KICKING 2 EACH AND SINGLE SCORES TO SAM TURNER, MARTY BEARD, TAYLOR O'LOUGHLIN AND KADEN WALTER. NEXT WEEK THE TEAM CAN LOOK FORWARD TO A TOUGH MATCH AGAINST RAILWAYS IN THE LEAD UP TO THE FINALS.

| 3 FROM 3 |
29-July-2007 |
|
Yesterday's round of junior fixtures against the Saints teams resulted in our first clean sweep of the season and our Under 10's breaking through for their first win of the season. With a 1.1 (7) to 1.0 (6) scoreline the team just scraped home by the solitary point but it was enough to bring home the points. A very excited team & goal umpire, Greggy Sortras (who had the quickest set of flags in football history) celebrated like they had just won the AFL premiership and the smiles on their faces after the game make all the hard work that our very hardworking committee, coaches, parents & supporters worthwhile. Lloyd Donaldson was our very important goal kicker for the match that had many other great contributors too. Jack SWAllow, Robert Bird & Lochlyn Williams were all amongst the better players with Riley Smythe and Elliot Briers also putting in strong performances too. Well done to the team and we are sure many more wins will be coming your way!
The under 12's kept their unbeaten record intact in a grand final like game against a strong committed Saints team keen to knock them off. The close scoreline of 2.4 (16) to 1.2 (8) reflected the tight match with Joe Scafidi turning in a match winning performance to lead the team to the important win. Michael Taylor played an awesom game on one of the competitions best players, with Hayden Kennedy & Kaden Sambo also starring around the ground as well. Nathan Seeley & Chris williams were the sole goal kickers for the match. Good work boys against a quality opposition and keep the hard work up.
The under 14's kept up their winning streak as well with a strong 6.8 (44) to 2.6 (18) win against the Sainters. With a very close game for the first half a strong committed team effort saw the boys play a great second half to run out convincing winners. Captain Delson Trott was the leading goal scoring for the game with 2 goals and another hard working display all over the ground. Jonathan Doutch played an excellent game to take home the top award whilst Sam Turner, Luke Needham & Kaden Walter all shared in the the best player awards for stand out performances as well. With top position now secured a focused effort is now required for the next couple of weeks in the lead up to the second semi final and a possible grand final berth. Keep up the good work and training, get behind your coach Andrew, and your efforts will be rewarded.
Yesterday also saw the club welcome each grade of the Saints team up in the Mines Clubrooms after each match. It was great to see the players and parents from each club enjoy a sausage sizzle and a drink together after each game with all games being played in great spirits. Special thanks to club stalwarts Ted "Frosty" Martin and Steve Boyd for cooking the BBQ and for their support of our junior club each week.

| 14'S CONTINUE THE MARCH |
21-July-2007 |
|
Today's round of junior fixtures saw our under 14's team continue their march towards the finals. The team played great team football to score a 14.16 (100) to 6.5 (41) win against last years nemesis Kangas. The boys managed to keep Kalgoorlie to just the solitary point whilst piling on 7.9 durng the first half. The visitors fought back with a handy 5.4 in the third quarter whilst the Diorites only scored 1.3. The team showed great fortitude to put he foot down in the last quarter to pile on 5.4 to 1 goal to run out the match well. Once again skipper Delson Trott was awesome kicking 6 goals in his best on ground performance. Kaden Walter and Blake Ferrier were solid all game whilst Taylor O'Loughlin chipped in with 2 goals as well. Other scorers for the match included Trent Mais with two as well while single goal scorers were Johnathon Doutch, Clayton Lewis, Luke Needham & Kaden Walter. The team is now sitting in top spot with a handy two game and superior percantage buffer to second placed Kambalda. Keep up the good work boys.
The Undefeated Under 12 team played out a hard fought out win against a much improved Kalgoorlie team to come out 8.4 (52) to 4.3 (27) winners. Star midfielder Mitchell Turner who broke his arm playing for the recent Goldfields Under 12 team last weekend was missed greatly but the team played very well as a whole to record the good win. Joe Scafidi was once again outstanding whilst Ben Wood stepped up to play his best game of the season. Brendon Browning and Michael Taylor played good games to round out the match day awards whilst leading goal scorers for the match were Kaden Sambo & Chris Williams with two goals each. Other goal scorers were Joe Scafidi, Hayden Kennedy, James Cable and Jonty Turner playing his debut game for the blue and whites. Next weeks game against Saints will prove to be a challenge with the opposition keen to avenge their close loss from the last time the teams met.
The Under 10's again went down to the Kalgoorlie team but again showed great improvement in their skills. Jack Swallow played a greta game and along with Riley Smythe was named the best players for the match. Other good performers included Elliot Briers and Robert Bird who all played well, whilst Lloyd Donaldson & Jarrod Turner were also good contributors as well.

| Goldfields Ballajura Roundup |
14-July-2007 |
|
This weekends Goldfields Under 12's game's against Ballajura resulted in split results for the Goldfields Teams.
The day got of to a great start with the lead up match seeing the Goldfields 2 team score an emphatic win against the visiting team with a 14.23 (107) to 1.1 (7) scoreline. Diorites Luke Fernie starred in the forward line with his 5 goals that saw him walk away with one of the best players awards for the game. Christopher Willaims was a fellow Diorite player to add a handy 2 goals whilst other Diorites to play well included Connor McCreed, Aaron Donovan, Tom Oliver. Paul Verbaken from Kangas took out the other best player award for the Goldfileds Team. Mines Under 12's coaches Russell Walton & Ben Barsanti along with Keith Wasley did a great job in coaching them team.
The second game between Goldfields 1 and Ballajura 1 got off to a great start with the Goldfileds team scoring three goals in the first quarter to give them a handy 2 goal break in the first quarter. Young Diorites star Mitchell Turner excelled all over the ground turning in an awesome display and giving Ballajura a few headaches during the first half. Unfortunately just before the half time he sustained devasting injury that resulted in a badly broken arm and left the young Goldfields side a avluable player down and the team reeling. The team held a 3 goal lead at the time and with Ballajura then kicking two quick goals whilst the Goldfields regained their composure the match suddenly became very close. Inaccuarate kicking at goals during the third quarter proved costly for the Goldfields team with only 5 behinds scored for the quarter. The lead changed hands several time during the last quarter with the scores even at two times before Ballajura ran out 7 point winners. Dom Sheed from Saints played very well and along with Kalgoorlies Jordan Gapes took out Goldfields Best Players for the match. Dom also took out the player of the series and the Ken Petersen Medal for Goldfields Best Player over all of the Under 12's matches here and in Perth whilst Diorites Mitch Turner, who was sorely missed during the last half of the match, took out the runner up best player of the series. Other representatives from the Diorites in the second match included Joseph Scafidi, Hayden Kennedy, Michael Taylor & Luke Fernie who all played well.
Well done to all the boys who represented the Diorites, we know you received invaluable experience and a lot of new friendships were made along the way. To all the players and their families that billeted players from the Ballajura club thanks as well.
To Nardia & Jeff Turner, congratulations on behalf of our club on a magnificent effort hosting the day.
To all the Diorites parents, players and friends that helped out on the day and in the lead up to the match thanks as well.
Special mention to Nardia & Mitchell Turner , Christopher Williams & Samantha Johnson on their fantastic ticket selling efforts as well.
Lastly to coach Tony Lennox, thank you for all your hard work in coaching the teams.

| 14'S CONSOLIDATE TOP SPOT |
07-July-2007 |
|
Today's round of junior fixtures resulted in a 2-1 win loss ratio for the blue & whites and saw our Under 14's team consolidate top spot. The teams 12.8 (80) to 5.2 (32) win against Boulder put them a game clear as well as percentage over 2nd place Kambalda and also completed a clean sweep against the Tigers for this seasons games. Skipper Delson Trott led the way with a match winning best on ground performance whilst also contributing a very handy 4 goals as well. Once again Taylor O'Loughlin turned in a great game in the ruck whilst Luke Needham with 2 goals was also a good performer. Sam Turner once again played another solid game and also chipped in with a handy goal. Other scorers in the big win were Ricky Dawes, Taylor O'Loughlin,Clayton Lewis, Darrell Graham and Shannon O'Meara. No doubt the team will loook forward to next weeks game off enabling them to be nice and fresh to face a much improved Kangas team.
Once again the under 12's played another outstanding team game dominating all positions on the ground to record a big 13.7 (85) to nil scoreline. Christopher Williams scored a whopping 7 goals to add to his ever growing goal kicking tally, whilst Kaden with Mitchell Turner & Joseph Scafidi leading the very hard working midfield to round out the match day awards. Other goal scorers were Mitchell with a handy 3, whilst Connor McCreed, Ethan Howson & Kaden Sambo all scored one each. Of course it wasn't only the forwards that played well but the very tight midfield delivering the ball to the forward line and then combining well with the strong defence, who again kept the opposition scoreless. With many of the boys all playing representative footy next weekend for the Goldfields Under 12 teams, all our players, parents & supporters are urged to get down to Digger Daws Oval at 9am to watch the two games.
Our Under 10's were once again gallant in defeat in their loss to Boulder. The 7.1 (43) to 1.0 (6) scoreline did not reflect the intensity of the game at all and our team should be proud about the way they played the game. Robert Bird again played a starring role, whilst Jack Swallow & Riley Smythe also played great games as well. Rhett Burke applied an excellent tackle during the game whilst Alistair Wood, Lochlyn Williams and Jarrod Turner were also fine contributors as well. Llloyd Donaldson was the sole goal scorer for the Diorites.
Next weekend games are in recess for the school holidays and for the Goldfields under 12's to play their matches against Ballajura at Digger Daws Oval. The games should be great to watch so hopefullly everyone can get down to watch. Normal fixtures and training will resume the second week of the school holidays.

The Under 12's once again swept the opposition away with a 9.14 (68) to 0.2 (2) scoreline. The Team claimed top spot on the table with a stong all round team performance. Mathew Seeley kicked 5 goals whilst Trent Mais and Clayton Lewis both scored 2 each with Jye Mackie chipping in with the other goal. Tayloy O' Loughlin once again turned in a great ruck perfomance whilst Kaden Walter and Dylan Sambo also played very well again. Well Done boys, the challenges will come thick and fast now!
Once again the Under 12's totally dominated their opposition with a 8.10 (58) to 0 scoreline. Ths strong Mines midfield and backline was a tight determined outfit keeping the opposition scoreless. | UNDER 10'S JUST MISS OUT |
16-June-2007 |
|
Today's round of junior fixtures resulted in 3 very close games and saw a desperately unlucky 10's and under side just go down by 5 points in a 1.2 (8) 1.7 (13) points scoreline. Tyrone Tolputt was the sole goal scorer in a vgery close game. Lochlyn Williams took home the man of the match award afterplaying his best game of the season. Robert Bird , Lloyd Donaldson, Jarrod Turner & Michael Ashwin were all good players for the Diorites in the close game.
The Under 12's received their biggest challenge to date and had to dig deep to overcome a determined Saints outfit to record their narrow 3.3 (21) to 3.1 (19) in the very close game. The team was down 5 points at 3 quarter time and had to fight hard for the win to keep their record intact. Hayden Kennedy, Mitchell Turner & Joseph Scafidi showed their class across the whole ground whilst Kaden Sambo also played well. Next time we play the Sainters we know that they will be out for revenge and look forward to another closely fought out match.
The Under 14's avenged their round 1 loss to Saints in another very tight match.
The 11.7 (730 to 10.6 (60) scoreline reflected how close the game was. The Diorites had a huge 4.5 to 0.1 first quarter only to see the determined Saints team claw their way back over the next two quarters. A very tight last quarter and some great play by both teams saw the Diorites get over the line. Delson Trott once again turned in a match winning performance and kicked 4 goals along the way. Aaron Giblet played his best game this year whilst Blake Ferrier, Sam Turner and Kaden Walter all turned in their usual slid performances as well. The win saw the team consolidate second position and with Kambalda next game a top of the table clash looms.

James Cable & Connor McCreed were the other goal scorers with 1 each. whilst the team remains unbeaten at this stage, beware, next week a rapidly improving Saints will be out to break the sequence!
The under 10's were so unlucky not to record their first win after being up by 1 point at one stage only to be out scored in the last quarter to go down with a 2.4 (16) to 5.8 (38) scoreline. Jack Swallow & Lloyd Donaldson both scored a great goal each whilst Alistair Wood was a welcome adition to the team. Liam Halse & Lochlyn Williams rounded out our best players for the day.

| PLAYERS SHINE FOR GOLDFIELDS |
07-June-2007 |
|
The recent long Weekend saw several Mines Juniors all play for Goldfields Represenative teams. Both our under 14's team and our under 12's team had sevaeral players all represent the region in games played in Kalgorlie and in Perth. Details are as follows.
UNDER 14/15 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
Several Under 14?s players - Delson Trott, Aaron Giblett, Taylor O?Loughlin, Kaden Walter, Matt Seeley, Marty Beard & Sam Turner all played in recent fixtures over the long weekend for the Goldfields teams. The boys all played well and we hope you enjoyed the experience. Being the younger boys of the squads they all would have benfited from the experience greatly.
GOLDFIELDS 12-YEAR-OLD DELEVLOPMENT TEAM
Congratulations to the following players who played in the Goldfields under 12 team to play against Ballajura, Sorrento-Duncraig & Claremont in Perth over the long weekend ? Well done to Joe Scafidi, Mitchell Turner, Luke Fernie, Aaron Donovan, Michael Taylor & Hayden Kennedy. The team was very successful winning all the games. The Ballajura Game in particular was an incredibly intense high standard game that tested the Goldfields team out. The Team will return during the school holidays & matches will be played at Digger Daws Oval on the middle weekend of the holidays (Saturday the 14th of July). Also Congratulations to Connor McCreed, Thomas Oliver & Christopher Williams who have been added to the teams for the return games.

| DERBY DAY RESULTS |
26-May-2007 |
|
Today's round of Junior fixtures against co tenants & derby rivals Boulder saw the Diorites came away with the bragging rights with a 2-1 win loss ratio.
Once again our under 10's went down but with the margins getting smaller each week we know that the elusive win must be soon. The 5.3 (33) to 0.1 (1) scoreline did not really reflect the intensity that the Diorites displayed during the match. Robert Bird put in a great effort to be named the man of the match with Michael Ashwin & Tryrone Tolputt the other awards winners. Other good contributors were Jack Swallow & Jayden O'Meara who both played very well.
Yet again our under 12's swept all before them to make it 6 from 6. The whopping 13.16 (94) to 0.3 (3) scoreline could of been a lot bigger if not for some inaccurate kicking in front of goals. Once again Christopher Williams came away with a 6 goal haul and was our best player. Joseph Scafidi starred all game and scored 2 goals along the way. Hayden Kennedy, Mitchell Turner, Reece Williams, John Williams & James Cable were our other scorers with 1 each. Connor McCreed also played his best game this year to taske out a best player award as well. With many of the team travelling down to Perth this weekend for the annual Ballajura game the club wishes all the players all the best for a great series.
The Under 14's game completed a successful day for our Juniors with a 11.7 (73) to 5.3 (33) 40 point win over the tigers. The game was very closely fought out for the first two quarters with only a point the difference at half time. A big 5 goal third quarter changed the tune of the match and another 4 goals were piled on in the last to seal the match. Moving Delson Trott into full foward (for a rest) was a match winner and he was superb with his dominating 7 goal haul, showing why he is one of the stars of the under 14 competition. Sam Turner started in the back pocket before moving to the wing in a great 4 quarter performance - his best of the season. Peter "Lofty" Hombergen was solid all game as well whilst Jonathon Doutch was moved onto one of the oppositions main players to shut down a lot of the tigers play. Blake Ferrier also played well with Taylor O'Loughlin and Dylan Sambo good contibutors as well. The win consolidated 2nd spot for the team who are now 4 from 6. This weekend the boys enjoy a break with several members of the team playing games over the long weekend for the 14 & 15 yr old Goldfields development squads. Good luck to all our players and hope you enjoy the opportunity.
Our next games are against Kangas at Sir Richard Moore on June the 9th. All Players are expected to train as required unless otherwise notified by their coach.

| ROUND ONE BEST PLAYER AWARDS |
25-May-2007 |
|
Last Night our Junior club held its players tea and player of the round awards - details are as follows.
The under 14?s currently in second spot with 3-2 win-loss ratio. The boys are much improved on previous seasons & enjoying the advantage of being the older boys in their grade. Well done boys, your games have been great and you're all playing some good football. You need to work on your fitness levels at training to avoid those last quarter fade-outs. Congratulations to Zafes, Flower & Tony on the hard work they are putting into the team , it shows and the work the boys are putting in is showing as well. Keep up the good work.
The under 12?s are flying the diorite flag strongly once again ? they are so far undefeated, boasting a fantastic scoring percentage and sitting on top of the ladder in their grade!! They have scored an incredible 49 goals & 35 points (329 points total) and have only had 3 goals 5 points (23 points) kicked against them. The whole team is playing excellent football and showing great versatility in many key positions. Each week a new face crops up in the best player awards and shows that whilst certainly there are a few star players there is also great depth to the team. A big thanks to the hard work of league players Russell Walton & Ben Barsanti that they are putting into the team.
The under 10?s are also playing great footy ? we hope they are all learning heaps from Jeff and also enjoying themselves in their first year of competition!! Whilst they have not broken through for that elusive win yet they are all improving each week and we know it?s just around the corner. Many of the boys are showing marked improvement each week and remember that this is the time you are starting to develop skills and whilst its great to win games developing these skills is more important.

| FIRST ROUND COMPLETED |
19-May-2007 |
|
THIS WEEKENDS ROUND OF GAMES AGAINST RAILWAYS HAS MARKED THE COMPLETION OF A SUCCESSFUL FIRST ROUND OF FIXTURES FOR THE MINES ROVERS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB. WHILST TEAMS HAVE ENJOYED MIXED SUCCESS DURING THE ROUND OUR 3 JUNIOR TEAMS HAVE ALL PLAYED WELL.
THE UNDER 10'S SUFFERED ANOTHER LOSS BUT WERE VERY UNLUCKY AFTER PLAYING A GREAT GAME WITH A 6.9 (45) TO 1.3 (9) SCORELINE. THE THIRD QUARTER WAS OUR UNDOING WHEN THE OPPOSITION SCORED 4 UNANSWERED GOALS AND KEPT US SCORELESS. OTHER THAN THAT IS WAS A VERY EVEN GAME WITH SOME GREAT FOOTBALL DISPLAYED BY SEVERAL PLAYERS. ELLIOT BRIERS PLAYED HIS BEST GAME FOR THE SEASON WHILST ONCE AGAIN LLOYD DONALDSON, JAYDEN DONALDSON, JARROD TURNER & RILEY SMYTHE ALL PLAYED GREAT GAMES AS WELL. KYRON MILTON WAS OUR LONE GOAL SCORER AND PUT IN A GREAT EFFORT AS WELL.
THE UNDER 12'S ONCE AGAIN PLAYED A GREAT GAME OF FOOTBALL TO RUN OUT COMFORTABLE WINNERS WITH A 12.7 (79) TO 2.0 (12) SCORELINE. THE GREAT PERFORMANCE MARKED AN UNBEATEN ROUND BY THE TEAM IN A ROUND WHERE THE BIG WINNING MARGINS HAVE NOT ALWAYS REFLECTED THE INTENSITY OF THE GAMES. THE BOYS HAVE HAD MANY CHALLENGES THROWN AT THEM BUT HAVE STUCK TO GAME PLANS AND PLAYED WELL. CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS SCORED 5 GOALS TO TAKE HIS SEASON TALLY TO 15 GOALS ALREADY! OTHER GOAL SCORERS FOR THE MATCH WERE JOEY SCAFIDI, LUKE FERNIE & JAMES CABLE WITH 2 EACH WHILST ETHAN HOWSON CHIPPED IN WITH 1 AS WELL. BRENDON BROWNING & JAMES CABLE PLAYED THEIR BEST MATCHES OF THE SEASON WITH JOE SCAFIDI, MITCH TURNER, LUKE FERNIE, KADEN SAMBO & MICHAEL TAYLOR ALL TURNING IN THEIR USUAL GREAT GAMES. WITH PLAYERS BECOMING MORE VERSATILE AND LEARNING TO PLAY IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS IN ALL THE WHOLE TEAM HAVE ALL PLAYED WELL THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE ROUND. WELL DONE TO RUSSELL, BEN & THE TEAM.
THE UNDER 14'S PLAYED A TIGHTLY FOUGHT OUT MATCH AGAINST THE REDLEGS TO COME AWAYS WITH POINTS IN A 4.13 (37) TO 3.6 (24) SCORELINE. INACCAURATE KICKING AT GOALS COST THE DIORITES THE CHANCE TO HAVE A MORE DECISIVE WIN AND FOR THE RESULT TO HAVE BEEN SETTLED EARLIER IN THE GAME. KADEN WALTER WAS SOLID ALL DAY TAKING SOME VERY STRONG OVERHEAD MARKS AND HITTING HIS TARGETS WELL WITH HIS KICKING. DELSON TROTT WAS ONCE AGAIN DOMINATE WHILST TAYLOR O'LOUGHLIN RUCKED VERY WELL. JONATHON DOUTH PLAYED HIS FIRST GAME IN SEVERAL WEEKS AND ALSO TURNED IN ANOTHER STIRLING PERFOMANCE. RICKEY DAWES ONCE AGAIN SHOWED THAT SIZE IS NO OBASTACLE WITH HIS GREAT GAME AS WELL. AARON GIBLETT, MATT SEELEY, SAM TURNER, DYLAN SAMBO AND JAKE LITTLEWOOD WERE ALSO GOOD CONTRIBUTORS FOR THE MATCH. THE LAST QUARTER WAS A BIT OF A FADE OUT SO MORE HARD WORK AND BETTER FITNESS IS REQUIRED FOR THE TEAM TO KEEP PROGRESSING. HIT THE TRAINING TRACK HARD BOYS AND RESULTS ARE STARTING TO SHOW. THE TEAM NOW SITS SECOND ON THE LADDER WITH 3 WINS AND 2 LOSSES FOR THE ROUND WHICH IS A MARKED IMPROVEMENT ON THE LAST FEW SEASONS. WELL DONE!

| ROAD TRIP BRINGS MIXED RESULTS |
12-May-2007 |
|
Todays journey to Kambalda for this weekends round of junior fixtures brought mixed results for the Diorites. Once agian our Under 12's team were victorous however the 10's and 14's were not so fortunate.
The Under 10's were once again very serviceable and played football well. They are showing improvement each week but still went down 6.4 (40) to 0.3. (3). The courage shown by yound Michael Ashwin during the game was commendable and with eyes for the ball only Michael received a good whack. To come back on in the next quarter showed great bravery and contirbuted to Michael receiving one of the match day awards. Riley Smythe also played well whilst Lloyd Donaldson turned in another great performance. Other good contrtibutors included Lochlyn Williams and Liam Halse.
Once again the Under 12's notched another win under their belts to stretch their unbeaten run. The 8.3 (51) to 1.2 (8) scoreline once again showed a big win to the Diorites but didn't really reflect how hard the game was. Kambalda played hard football and our boys responded to the challenge well and with contributors all over the ground good players were aplenty. Dylan Fairbairn played his best match of the year so far receiving assistance from Mitchell Turner and Joe Scafidi with their usual hard working effort. Christopher Williams again top scored with his 3 goals whilst Ethan Howson followed up his pair from last week with another 2. Thomas Oliver, Brendon Browning & Kayden Sambo were the other goal scorers for the match. the boys have only had 2.4 scored against them in 4 games and this weekend the redlegs beckon with the boys out to complete the first round undefeated.
The Under 14's played a hard fought out match with poor first and last quarters their undoing in 12.11 (83) to 7.3 (45) scoreline. Whilst the match was evenly poised during the 2nd and 3rd quarters the porr start and scoreless last quarter cost them the game. LUke Needham played his best game for the year and was solid all day. after a quiet game last weekend, Delson Trott was back to his best form whilst Arron Giblett & Sam Turner all played good games as well. Dylan Sambo kicked two goals, with Taylor O'Loughlin, Darrell Graham, LUke Needham, Andrew Hodder & Eugene Hombergen all scoring a goal each.
This weekend we play Railways at Sir Richard Moore to complete the first round of fixtures.

| UNDER 12'S KEEP RECORD INTACT - 14'S HAVE COLOURS LOWERED. |
05-May-2007 |
|
Today's round of fixtures played against Saints at Morrison Oval have resulted in the Diorites having their colours lowered. Though the Under 12's kept their unbeaten streak intact, the Under 10's and 14's both suffered defeat.
The Under 10's team played well and their first goal for the season was scored by Lloyd Donaldson who played well across the whole ground. the 6.10 (46) to 1.1 (7) scoreline did not reflect the good work that the Diorites displayed and with improvement each week, a win is just around the corner. Other good players for the match included Jayden Donadlson & Jarrod Turner and the team can look forward to playing Kambalda next weekend.
Once again the under 12's enjoyed another win though the 5.6 (36) to 0.1.(1) scoreline did not reflect the intensity of the competition and though the Diorites defence kept Saints scoreless until the last quarter, our boys didn't seal the game themselves until that last quarter with a 4 goal haul. John Williams kicked his first goal for the blue & whites whilst Ethan Howson moved from the backline to the forward line and scored 2 goals. Luke Fernie & Chris Williams were the other goal scorers whilst Joe Scafidi and Mitchell Turner played on ball all game and once agin turned in match winning performances. Other good players included Hayden Kennedy, Kaden Sambo & Tom Oliver. With only 2 points scored against them so far this season the team has a healthy percentage but can be sure that next time they paly Saints it will be just as tough.
The Under 14's lead for most of the game only to completely fold in the last quarter and squander a 4 goal lead and let the Saints run away with the game by 18 points in a 9.9 (63) to 7.3 (45) scoreline. Ricky Dawes tried hard all game and despite receiving a heavy knock late in the third term was our Best on ground. Jake Littlewood and Blake Ferrier were also among our better players whilst Taylor O'Loughlin rucked all game and put in a great effort . Obviously more work was needed by the rest of the team and the game showed the team that a lot more hard work is needed at training and match fitness was a big factor. The Boys need to remember to take each week as it comes, respect their opposition & work hard at training. - Most importantly to play as a team and more wins will come their way.
Next week we venture to Kambalda and will let you know if we have a bus for the under 12's and 14's on Tuesday at training.

| ROUND 2 RESULTS - UNDER 14'S GET UP |
29-April-2007 |
|
Yesterday's round of junior fixtures played at home against Kalgoorlie City Football Club produced the same result as last week's - a 2-1 win loss ratio to the Diorites.
The big news for our boys was the win enjoyed by our much improved 14 and under team. The boys enjoyed a good 27 point win over the more fancied Kangas outfit in a 7.12 (54) to 4.3 (27) scoreline. The team was wrapped with the win as it is the first time they have defeated the roos in this grade since 2002 and many of the boys who started with the club in 2003 have never tasted victory against the black and whites. In a great team effort there were 7 individual goal scorers and once again Delson Trott turned in a great performance. Kaden Walter was solid all game whilst Brenton Dann produced his best game ever for the Diorites. Other good performers were Dylan Sambo, Cookie Lewis, Mathew Seeley, Sam Turner and Ricky Dawes. With two wins under there belts from two games the boys are growing in confidence each week. Coach Andrew Zafer & Assistant Coach Jeff Turner expect a committed effort on the training track this week and with places in the team tight, the team look forward to taking on Jeff Delbridges Saints this weekend.
In other matches played our youngsters, the under 10's once again had their colours lowered by the ooposition, but the endevour they showed was commendable. The boys tried hard all game and Jarrod Turner produced a best on ground performance with his hard work all over the ground. He was helped out by Elliot Briers and LLoyd Donaldson also produced a great game as well with the three players the recipients of this week's match awards.
Russell Walton's 12's and unders continued their consistent good form once again recored a comfortable win over Kangas. The 8.10 (58) to 0.1 (1) scoreline reflected the way our midfield kept the ball from venturing down to the Kangas forward line and when it did our backline performed well. After dominating the first quarter, a second quarter injury to young gun Mitchell Turner was a blow but it showed the depth of the team that the boys didn't skip a beat and conitued to play well. Once again Joseph Scafidi continued to dominate the match whilst Luke Fernie deserves a mention for stepping up into the ruck duties and turned in a great performance. Daniel Ashwin continued his good form whilst Christopher Williams and Hayden Kennedy continued to score accurately and posted 2 goals each. James Cable, Ethan Howson, Kaden Sambo & Dylan Fairbairn all chipped in with a goal each. With only a solitary point scored against them so far this season the boys are enjoying a great percantage to boot.
This weeks matches against the Saints Football Ckub will be played at Morrison Oval at the regular start times please ensure you are at the ground early!

| FLOWER LEADS THE WAY |
26-April-2007 |
|
Once again our juniors will be co ordinated under the guiding hand of club stalwart and life member, Jeff "Flower" Turner. Jeff and his wife Nardia have completely turned around our junior club with enormous amounts of hard work. Former league captain Jeff, is an absolute legend at Diorite land and in Goldfields Football circles. He has played in an incredible 6 winning league grand finals at the Diorites (along with another 4 appearances in losing finals that he would probably rather forget about!). Jeff also played in two winning league Grand finals at Boulder City and numerous winning junior finals at the Tigers as well before making the move over to Diorites in 1991. In fact Jeff was a part of the Tigers victorous league team in 1986 at the young age of 17 that came from 4th position to secure the flag in a season that earned Jeff the GFL rookie of the year award in 1986. Playing in an incredible 12 league Grandfinals from 1986 - 2003, Jeff was a Subiaco Golds Medal winner for a best on ground performance in 2001 that was made even more remarkable as Jeff had previously "retired" from football at the end of 1999 only to make a triumphant return in season 2001 when the Diorites were victorous in the league Grand Final. Jeff retired from football at the end of the 2003 winning season after being part of the undefeated league team that swept to victory in the 2003 final. This was the second time that Jeff has been part of an undefeated Diorites League team after leading the undeafeated 1995 team to victory and ranks him as the only player in GFL history to have played in two undefeated teams. In fact, in 2003 he played alongside several players that were not born when he played in his first winning league final and was coaching the under 11's where several of his teammates younger brothers were playing! Jeff captained the Diorites from 1995-1999 . To have a person of Jeff's calibre giving back to junior football and nuturing young players into the game is something special that we have at Mines Rovers. Too many players take what they can from our great game and never give back but the enjoyment that Jeff gets from seeing his three boys play for the blue and whites with number 7 on their back, and the work he has put into to our juniors is definately not under estimated. Jeff Turner is a true stalwart of our club and the Goldfield football and as he once said "he will bleed blue and white till the day he dies".

| U/16s Go Down in Final |
26-August-2006 |
|
Today our Under 16's went down to a very committed and disciplined Saints team in a massive 107 point white wash. The commited oposition gave our boys a football lesson and never looked challenged from the firts bounce of the ball. Josh Hunt tried hard all day and along with Delson Trott never gave up. Delson & Darren Champion were the only goal scorers in day when the Saints forwards went on a rampage. Whilst it was a very disappointing end to the season the turn around in the team from the past few seasons and the work coach Nathan Wier has done withe the team was fantastic. With the majority of the team moving up to Colts next season we hope that you all go on to play senior footy for the diorites!

| 16's head for the Grandfinal |
12-August-2006 |
|
Mines Rovers under 16 team have turned in a powerhouse display to defeat a previosly unbeaten Saints outfit and march straight into this years Grand Final. Josh Hunt turned in a man of the match performance containing several of Saints best players. Daniel Lewis with 5 goals & Tristan Walker with 4 goals excelled infront of the white posts whilst the Polak boys, Joash & Allen played brillantly all over the ground. Our biggest threat now is compalceny and only hard work can keep the momentum going - two hard weeks of training is now ahead of the boys as you can be sure Saints will rebound and be hungry to atone for the loss and if they play in the final a interesting match awaits!!

This weekends final round of fixtures against Railways has concluded our home and away season for 2006. Our under 10's were unlucky to go down to the Redlegs 4.3 (27) to 2.1 (13). Alistair Wood and James McKay were our goals scorers in a game where all our players played well and contributed. As usual the Ashwin, Chrimes and Wood brothers all put in good performances along with Jarrod Turner and Elliot Briers look like they have many good seasons to come playing for the Diorites. Once again our all conquering under 12 team totally steam rolled their opposition with a 151 white wash against the opposition. Keeping the redlegs scoreless they demolished them with a 22.19 (151) to 0.0 (0) scoreline. Hayden Kennedy was standout in front of goals with 5 majors whilst Clayton (Cookie) Lewis chipped in with 3. Jake Littlewood, Lofty Hombergen, Matty Ralph, Luke Fernie all added a couple of goals each with single scorers Mitchell Turner, Joey Scafidi, Shannon O'Meara and Hugh McAuliffe all adding to the scoreline as well. Well done boys on a magnificent undefeated season where you have flown the diorites flag high! Good luck to all the boys who go up in age next year and also the challenge is on to the remaining boys to keep up the good standards the team has shown in the past 2 seasons. Under 14's went down to a vastly improved Railways team in a 9.6 (60) to 2.4 (16) scoreline. Delson Trott played his usual skippers game and Kane Maffina once again put in a strong workman like performance, with both players our only goal scorers. Whilst the season has been disappointing we know that next year when we are on the higher end of the age bracket good things will come for the players that have kept the faith and turned up to training and games every week. An undermanned under 16's went down to a strong and disciplined Railways team this weekend in a 16.7 (103) to 10.11 (71) score. Missing several key players the boys played well but will need to improve next week when they play top of the table Saints for a grand final berth. Best players were Joash Polak, Brett Boddington and Daniel Lewis. Good Luck next week boys, make sure you get down to training and do all the right things and a grand final berth is just around the corner!!

| Round 14 Roundup |
30-July-2006 |
|
This weekend?s derby round of games against Boulder?s have once again resulted in a 2 win, 2 loss ratio that has been the pattern for our last two games against our co- tenants at Digger Daws Oval. The under 10?s welcomed back serval players who have been away for the school holidays to just go down by 8 points in a 3.7 (25) to 5.3 (33) result. James McKay was a welcome return and his two goals were very handy with Ben Wood our other goal scorer. Dylan Fairbairn and Daniel Ashwin were among the best players whilst Ricky walker played his first game for the Diorites. Under 12?s had their toughest game of the year with score line that saw then just get over the line by a solitary point on the death knell! Matthew Smith with 2 goals and Eugene Hombergen with one were the only goal kickers whilst Jake Littlewood, Ricky Dawes and Clayton Lewis al played well. Under 14?s tried hard all day against top of the table Boulder only to suffer another loss with a 4.6(30) to 12.11 (83) score. Ruckman Kane Maffina and Captain Delson Trott played well along with Matt Seeley, also kicking a goal each with Marty Beard chipping for the third. Under 16?s rebounded from last weeks demolition against Saints to record a 62 win over the Tigers with a 14.14 (98) to 5.6 (36) triumph. With the race for the seasons leading goal kicker hotting up both Kevin Lewis and Allen Polak kicked 4 each with Ashley Williams adding 3 more and Joash Polak kicking 2. With only one game left against third placed Railways the boys will be looking for another win to take into the finals.

| Round 13 Results |
23-July-2006 |
|
This weekend?s fixtures against Saints have resulted in a disappointing day for the Diorites with 3 losses and 1 win with all teams undermanned due to the school holidays. The under 10?s went down by 6 goals with Rhys Chrimes scoring the blue and whites only goal in the last quarter. Both the Ashwin and Wood brothers played their usual great game with Jarrod Turner also trying hard all day. The under 12?s were once again our shining lights scoring a 6.4 (40) to 2.6 (18) hard fought out win against the Saints. Once again Cookie Lewis was the leading goal scorer with 3 with, Joey Scafidi, Ricky Dawes & Nathan Seely all chipping in with a goal each. With only two games left, the boys are keen to keep that undefeated run going and face a vastly improved Boulder team next week. The Under 14?s were y undermanned and suffered another loss with a 3.2 920) to 11.9 975) score line. Jesse Bellin, Delson Trott and Hayden Kennedy scored the goals. Meanwhile an undermanned 16?s took the field with only 9 of the regular line-up and a host of Under 14?s and Under 12?s playing to make up numbers. The massive 35.17 to 3.2 demolition by top side Saints was a testament to the fact though we were undermanned the opposition was disciplined and clinical in their football and our boys need to regroup and put in a much better effort if they think they will trouble this side in the final series. Everyone if reminded that there is only two qualifying rounds of fixture left so get down to training and lets have a better end to the season!

| JUNIORS SHINE FOR GOLDFIELDS/BALLAJURA GAME |
18-July-2006 |
|
Last weekend not only saw a host a Diorites play for Goldfields at the Landmark championships in Perth but also a good contingent from our under 12's also represented the Goldfields in the annual Goldfields - Ballajura cup for Under 12 players as well. Jake Littlewood, Mathew Ralph, Ricky Dawes, Shannon O'Meara, Clayton Lewis, Eugene Hombergen, Hayden Kennedy, Joesph Scafidi and Mitchell Turner from the Diorites under 12 team all donned the Goldfields Guernsey with Committeeman Jeff Delbridge's son Jordan (who plays for Saints) also playing as well. The game is a much anticipated encounter for the under 12 players and after suffering a defeat at the hands of Ballajura during the last school holidays the boys were out to even the score. The two games were played at Sir Richard Moore oval and saw the Goldfields score two great wins to retain the cup. The Diorite players all played excellent football displaying some great skills with Jake Littlewood top scoring with three goals in the main game whilst Clayton Lewis was awarded a best player trophy for one of the best players on ground. In the first game young Mitchell Turner and Hayden Kennedy were also awarded the best player trophies for two standout performances as well resulting in the Diorites having three out of the four best players for the two games. Also Joe, Matty Ralph and Mitchell all backed up after their first game to help out in the main game, so were sure there were a few tired boys that night. All the boys enjoyed themselves and with a few billeting players from the opposition, they were given a bit of a taste of the goldfields and apparently enjoyed a trip out bush yabbying with Jeff "Flower" Turner and Kangas coach Peter Reed just as much as the game (were sure that Flower and Pete were on their best behaviour!). The club thanks Goldfields coach Tony Lennox for the opportunity given to the players and we know that the boys are all looking forward to the trip to Ballajura next year!!

| Round 12 Results |
08-July-2006 |
|
Todays round of fixtures against Kalgoorlie resulted in a 2 win, 2 loss results for the Diorites. Under 10's went down with a 2.5 (17) to 5.4 (34) scoreline. Daniel Ashwin was our lone goalscorer with 2 goals whilst Tim Maynard and Sam Hadlow in his last game for the club were amongst our best. With the Hadlow family departing for Perth we wish the all the best for the future and thank them for their contribution to our Under 10's team during their first season. The Under 12's enjoyed a a great win against Kangas with a 11.6 (72) to 4.3 (27) scoreline that didn't really reflect how tough the game was - especially in the first half when the match was evenly poised. The great teamwork displayed by the boys when the going was tough saw them undermine their opposition in the last quarter when th eboys piled on 4.4 to run away with the game. 2 goals each to Mathew Ralph and Mitchell Turner saw them as our leading goalscorers for the game with another 7 players all scoring goals as well. Ricky Dawes, Jake Littlewood and Hayden Kenndey were amongst the best players for the Diorites in a great win. The under 14's suffered anothe big deafeat at the hands of a far superior opposition. throughout the first three quarters the boys were very competetive but a last goal blitz of 11.4 to nil by Kangas saw them outlcass our boys by a massive 125 points. Matt Seeley and Charlie Cummins were amongst our best whilst Sam Turner tried hard all day as well. The Under 16's came out with all guns blazing with a 6.5 to 0.1 first quarter that helped set them up for a great 12.10 (82) to 6.7 (43) win. Kevin Lewis was back in form with a 5 goal haul with Allen Polak once again helping with a handy 3 goals as well. Josh Hunt was again amongst our better players with Nathan Williams also enjoying a great game too.

| Round 11 Results |
01-July-2006 |
|
Todays road trip to Kambalda resulted in a mixed bag for our club, with three great wins and one that we'd probably all like to forget! The under 10's started the day of with a great 3.4 (22) to 1.1 (7) win. Conor Chrimes played a great first game and along with James McKay and Ben Wood kept the ball moving well. Jarrod Turners excellent marking and strong play in the backline kept the pressure on Kambalda whilst the Wood Brothers, Alistair with 2 goals and Ben with 1 were the goal scorers for the game. The under 12's whilst missing a few players played great football to once again record a comfortable 10.4 (64) to 2.3 (15) win and remain undeafeated so far this season. Shannon O'Meara and Mathew Ralph enjoyed great games and kicked three goals each, whilst Cookie Lewis with 2 and Mitch Turner and Aaron Donovan with 1 each were the other scorers. Mitch Turner, Eguene (Lofty) Hombergen and Jake Littlewood all played hard around the ground to take home the best players and were well assisted by Luke Fernie and Joe Scafidi as well. A severely under manned Under 14 team had only 11 players turn up for the game!! With 8 of our under 12's playing up we managed to field a team and whilst we we comprehensivly beaten by a whopping 153 points our boys can still hold their heads up for not throwing in the towel and trying their hearts out. The Under 16's were also undermanned with only 13 players available. and also neededsome boys to play an extra gane after playing 14's and 12's. The boys showed some great determination to keep playing the game out and eventually ran out 39 point winners in a 14.15 (99) to 9.6 (60) win. Allen Polak kicked 4 goals and Darren Champion, Tristan Walker and Josh Hunt all played great games. Special mention needs to be made to under 12 players Clayton (cookie) Lewis and Eugene (Lofty) Hombergen who played not only their under 12 game but also the 14's and 16's game as well. Lofty even kicked a goal in the 16's as well - well done boys - great club spirit.
Thanks to all the parents to making the effort to go out to Kambalda and a big thanks to Nobby for driving the Under 16's out there and back in the bus!! Also to Nardia and Jeff Turner who spent the whole day out there as well - your efforts are very much appreciated.

| Round 10 Results |
25-June-2006 |
|
This round games against the redlegs has resulted in a two win, two loss ratio. Our under 10's were undermanned and played gallantly trying to score goals all day. Jarrod Turner was once again at the bottom of every pack and James Mckay along with the Ashwin brothers, Daniel and Michael played a great games too. Ben Wood was our lone goal scorer in the 1.6 (12) to 2.5 (17) loss. The under 12's demolished their opposition keeping them goaless along the way. The boys completely dominated every part of the game and the 16.13 (109) to 0.1 (1) win saw the team have 10 individual goalscorers. The goalscorers were well led by Clayton (Cookie) Lewis who must of had his weetbix that day to help him with his 5 goals. Matty Smith also kicked three with Matty Ralph, Hayden Kennedy, Joey Scafidi, Mitch Turner, Shannon O'Meara, Jake Littlewood, Luke Fernie and Hugh McAuliffe all chipping in for one each. Cookie, Luke Fernie and Jake all played great games to take home the best player awards. The under 14's played a great game and were unlucky not to come home witha better result. The 3.1 (19) to 6.10(46) loss was hard faught all day with Kaden Walter and Matt Seeley playing their best games all season. Other good players were once again Kane Maffina and Delson Trott whilst Sam turner and Aaron Giblett tried hard too. The under 16's held of a determined and much improved Railways outfit to record a great come from behind win. The 11.8 (74) to 6.10 (46) scoreline didn't reflect railways determination and Allen Pollaks 3 goals in the last quarter helped set up the win. Allen finished the game with 4 goals to be the leading goal scorer for the match whilst Josh Hunt and Darren Champion's hard work around the ground were also instrumental in the win.

| Round 9 Monday night results |
20-June-2006 |
|
This weeks round of fixture saw a general bye for our 10 and 12 teams whilst the older grades played last night to make up the fixtures postponed due to last weekend WAFL game in Kambalda. Unfortunatley our teams both went down in very close games against Saints. Our Under 14's played one of their best games this season to just go down by 11 points in a 8.4(52) to 8.15 (63) scoreline. Kane Maffina's excellent ruck knocks and Brad Bellin and Kaden Walters hard work around the ground resulted in some great movement of the ball into our forward line. Our goal scorers on the night were Kane Maffina, Matt Seely and young under 12's player Mitchell Turner, all kicking 2 each with Jessie Bellin and Delson Trott both kicking a goal each. Keep trying boys and hopefully more wins are around the corner. The under 16's played a very hard match against top of the table placed Saints. With a slow start (that probably cost us the game) the boys faught back in a match that saw the lead change several times in the last quarter. With two late goals from Saints the boys just went down by 9 points - 13.6 (84) to 14.9 (93). The Polak brother Allen and Joash were once again dominant all over the ground whilst kicking two goals each as well. Once again Tristan Walker displayed his great skills with 3 goals and some great play. Josh Hunt and Neil Parker were also great players on the night.

| Round 8 Round Up |
10-June-2006 |
|
This weekend games have resulted in 3 great wins against Kambalda. Our Under 10's started of the day with a great 4.2 (26) to 0.0 (0) win and played great defensive football keeping the opposition scoreless. Goals to James McKay, Ben Wood, Dyan Fairbairn and Eion McAuliffe and great on the ball play by Jarrod Turner and Rhys Chrimes saw the boys bounce back from their last two games. Well done boys and hope you keep enjoying the football! Mark's under 12's also kept their oppostion goaless and scored a great 8.5 (53) to 0.4(4) win as well. The players tea must have inspired a few players because Gavin Kastner and Kim Hansen played their best games of the year so far! Once again Joe Scafidi was dominant and with 2 goals scored each by Clayton Lewis and Jack Carter along with singles to Shannon O'Meara, Matthew Smith, Mitch Turner, and Matty Ralph the boys turned in another great team performance. An undermaned under 14's team playing several under 12's had a frustating day against a much improved Kambalda team. With a 1.1 (7) to 16.17 (113) scoreline, Delson Trott was our lone goal scorer whilst Kambaldas forwards enjoyed a field day. Our Under 16's were led by a rampaging Kevin Lewis with a huge 7 goal haul to help our team score a 18.19 (127) to 3.3 (21) demolition of Kambalda. Charlie Champion also enjoyed a greta game scoring 3 goals and be damaging all over the ground as well. Stefan Giblett also played his best game so far this season as well. With many of our 16's also playing colts the hard work on the track is definately paying off!

| Round 7 Results |
27-May-2006 |
|
This weekends round of football once again resulted in an even spread of wins and losses against Kalgoorlie. Under 10's went down by 8 points in a 1.4 (10) to 2.6 (18) low scoring match. Bevan George was our solitary goal scorer whilst some excellent play by James McKay and Elliot Briers saw them also take home best player awards. The Under 12's once again continued their excellent team work wotha comprehensive 10.4 (64) to 2.3 (15) win over arch rivals Kangas. Clayton (Cookie) Lewis once again kicked a hat trick of goals and had another 7 teammates also score goals as well. Dylan Williams and Hayden Kennedy also deserved mentions for the great games that they played as well. Our Under 14's were completely demolished by a much bigger and fitter Kangas team and with a 25.9 (159) to 4.2 (26) scoreline their wasn't much to smile about after the game. Whilst the boys tried hard all day the class of kangas really shone through. Our Under 16's had a solid 14.11 (95) to 8.8(38) win in a game unfortunately marred by behaviour not meant for the football feild. To our teams credit they returned after the incident at 3 quarter time in a very disciplined frame of mind to come out and kick 5.5 in the last quarter and completely outplay their opposition and let their football to do the talking. Tristan Walkers 4 goals and display of skill was great to see whilst Nathan Williams 3 goals were handy too. Joash Polaks hard running was great and in all the boys played a great game proving that if you are disciplined then you will get the rewards.

| Round 6 Results |
20-May-2006 |
|
This weekend round of junior fixtures once again resulted in mixed bag for our junior club with 2 wins and 2 losses against co tenants at Digger Daws Boulder. A very gallant under 10 team went down in the final seconds of the game when Boulder scored a 2 late goals to lose by a solitary point with a 4.3 (27) to 4.4 (28) scoreline. Bevan Goerge scored 3 great goals with Rhys Chrimes and James McKay also playing great games as well. Maybe we should have all been watching the ball rather than celebrating to early!! The Under 12's enjoyed a great 9.8 (62) to 3.1 (19) win . Clayton (Cookie) Lewis and Jake Littlewood both scored 3 goals each, with Mitch Turner, Shannon O'Meara and Jack Carter all scoring a goal each as well. Best Players for the match went to Cookie, Mitch and Eugene (Lofty) Hombergen but it was once again a great team perfomance. Our Under 14's were very unlucky to go down to Boulder by 27 points after being in the lead by as much as 6 goals at one point - It goes to show you need to play 4 quarters to win a match and whilst we burts out of the blocks early a more sustained effort is needed. Once again Delson Trott with 4 goals and Kane Maffina with his excellent ruck knocks led the way whilst young Aaron Giblett also worked hard all day as well. The Under 16's enjoyed a crushing win over last years premiers with a 16.17 (115) to 3.7 (25) demolition. A disciplined Mines outfit took all that Boulder threw at them and remained solid all day. Tristan Walker once again dominated and let his football do the talking and kicked 3 great goals as well. Kevin Lewis and Ashley Williams also kicked 3 goals each, whilst Daniel Lewis and Allen Pollak chipped in with 2 apeice. Other goal scorers on the day were Barry Smith, Joash Polak and Neil Parker with 1 each - well done boys and if you continue to get down to training and put the hard work in then hoepfully their will be some more great results.

| 14's Break Through |
14-May-2006 |
|
The Under 14's team have finally broken through for that elusive win! A great all round team performance from the boys resulted in a well deserved 12 point win against Railways. Once again the team were well led by their talented captain Delson Trott, whilst our ruckman Kane Maffina also played an excellent game. Well done boys!!

|
| 4 Wins from 4 Games |
14-May-2006 |
|
This weekends round of fixtures produced an excellent result for our junior grades - all teams won their games against Railways with some great team work all round. Our Under 10's started the ball rolling with a great 4.1 (25) to 3.2 (20) win against a previously undefeated Railways team. 4 Great Goals were scored by Dylan Fairbairn, Alistair Wood and brother Michael and Daniel Aswhin, whilst once again Ben Wood played another great game! The all conquering Under 12's continued to sweep all before them with an emphatic 16.7 (103) to 0.5 (5) demolition of the Redlegs. Young Joey Scafidi had a day out with a 6 goal haul and the team had a total of 10 goal scorers for a great team perforamnce. Teammates Hayden Kennedy & Jake Littlewood also turned in great perfomances to be amongsth the best players as well. The under Under 14's finally broke through for a win with captain Delson Trott and Luke Needham leading the way with 2 goals each whilst Jessie Bellin, Sam Turner, Marty Beard. Kane Maffina and Blake Hurley all chipped in with a goal each as well. Once again our Ruckman Kane Maffina did a mighty job and completely dominated all the ruck knocks. Well done boys and hopefully more wins are around the corner. In the last game of the round the Under 16's held of a determined Railways team to complete the clean sweep for the juniors. Allen Polak once again turned in a greta performance in front of goals with 4, with his brother Joash chipping in with another 2. Josh Hunt was solid all day whilst Neil Champion played another excellent game. Well done to all our players for all a great day of football

|
| Round 4 Match Round Up |
08-May-2006 |
|
Last weekends matches against traditional rivals Boulder saw a mixed result for our junior teams, with honours split evenly between the clubs with 2 wins apeice. An undermanned Under 10's suffered their first defeat of the season and learned that whilst its great to win, it doesn't always happen every week. The team all played well with several keys players missing displayed some great sportsmanship and played the game in good spirit. We're sure the boys are looking forward to next weeks game against Railways.
Our talented Under 12 team once again turned in a strong performance that was indicated by the scoreline - 9.10 (64) to 2.2 (14). With Coach Mark Kastner away, Assistant coach Tony Scafidi was mindful of keeping Marks record intact and was very happy with a strong all round team perforamnce by the team. Gavin Kastner was a revelation up forward with his two goals and were sure he'll be letting dad know when he gets back!! With places in the team very competeive all players need to make sure that they attend training each week and keep working as a team for the coaches.
Our Under 14's put in a very much improved performance against last years premier team and whilst you can never be happy with a loss the improvement in the team should put a smile on coach Jeff Turners face at training this week. Kane Maffina put in a great performance as did the captain Delson Trott. To score 5 goals against an opposition that has kept other teams scoreless was a great effort in itself. There is rumour Trent Mais could be shouting the hot dogs next week after scoring his first goal for the season as well!! Next weeks game against Railways is a big one for the team with both teams yet to record a win this year, so some hard work will be needed on the track this week boys!
As per the earlier story on the web our Under 16's scored a crushing win against last years premiers but remember boys - premeirships aren't won in May and their is much work to be be done on the training track as last weeks loss against a very disciplined Saints outfit proved.
This weeks matches against Railways will be played at our home ground Diggers
Daws so see you all there nice and early - and a reminder any player that remains unfinancial cannot play anymore games until their fees are paid

Round 4 has seen a return to winning form from our talented Under 16's team after last weeks lost against a very well drilled and disciplined Saints outifit.. A fantastic all round team preformance from the boys resulted in a win against arch rivals Booulders who have been grandfinalsits for the last 4 years running. Proving that the hard work put into the team from coach Nathan Wier and Junior Delegate Jeff Turner is starting to pay of, a much more disciplined team now taking to the track for the Diorites. Once again cousins Neil and Charlie Champion turned in match winning performances and were ably assisted by Tristanm walkers pace and the Polak brothers Joash with 5 goals and Allen with some excellent ruck knocks. New recruit Carl Farmer continues to shine whilst the ever reliable Neil Parker was once again solid in defence keeping the Tigers goaless in the first and fourth quarters and only allowing two goals in total to be scored by the opposition whilst the diorite boys marched to a massive percantage boosting 18.15 (123) to 2.4 (16) win. Well done boys , keep hittting the training track to get your fitness levels up and the rewards will keep coming!!

| Juniors Travelling Nicely |

Our junior club is currently going great guns with a very successful start to the season. The 4 junior grades have now played two rounds of football with some very pleasing results.
Nathan Weirs under 16's have continued the great improvement that they were making last year with both games played this season resulting in convincing wins for the team. The 16's are looking to hopefully enjoy good success this season and much credit has to be given to Nathan for the commitment he has shown to the Mines Rovers Football Club in taking the side under his wing.
Our under 14 team has not been so fortunate but with several players away last game with GFA commitments are looking forward to much improvement next game and we are sure that a win is just around the corner.
With a host of great talent once again our under 12's are sweeping all before them with two great wins first up and are once again sitting on top of the under 12 table. Under Mark Kastners guidance the under 12's are continuing last years excellent results and with names like Kennedy and Turner in there its great to see the offspring of great diorite families shining brightly!
A big welcome must be made to our new grade in the juniors, the under 10's! Under the guidance of hardworking club life member Jeff (Flower) Turner and the under 10's have also won both of their games as well and with Flowers guiding hand are enjoying a great introduction to football and the Mines Rovers Football Club!!
A big Thankyou to all the parents who have been down to help the juniors and remember many hands make light work!!
